Release Radar Spotify playlist

Something in the world of digital media and sound/music that I find interesting is a Spotify playlist I found. This playlist is called release radar, I had stumbled across this playlist while looking for new music. This playlist uses the Spotify algorithm to find songs from artists and genres that I listen to but more specifically these songs have just been released. 

I have decided to take this course because I want to expand on my knowledge of digital 

media. Due to how digital media is intertwined with social life today I feel that this 

course will provide me with useful information to use not only in a scholarly fashion. A 

topic I am interested in exploring with my group would be sound, noise, and power.

    I also use Spotify and appreciate the release radar playlist that they offer. I find it much easier to discover new music this way and about 90% of the time I enjoy what I'm listening to from their curated playlist.

    Hi Ethan, I also came across this playlist on Spotify and thought it was interesting. I think its a unique yet personalized way of discovering new music.

In addition to the presentations and class discussions from this week I wanted to talk more about technological determinism versus social constructionism because it was a topic that I found both interesting and a bit confusing. I would like to use this discussion to compare and contrast the two in order to better understand the two terms and what they mean in relation to podcast studies. I found the platformization of podcasting to be a very interesting topic discussed. Prior to the platformization of podcasting, as discussed by John Sullivan in “The Platforms of Podcasting: Past and Present”, a method known as RSS was used to consume podcasts. This was not easy for everyone to use, as only people with higher knowledge of the use of technology would be able to use this method. Steve Jobs would be the first to make a platform for podcasting with the release of iTUnes 4.9. THis allowed users the ability to consume and discover podcasts from the same place, ultimately making it much easier for the general population to enjoy this medium.
