As I shared in class, this is my most loved playlist from last year! Whenever I make a playlist, I add songs I am in the mood for and name the playlist afterward. This playlist consists of indie/alternative/rock, and at the time, I was playing pinball alone in the dark, hence the title. It is also a great playlist to play in the background while cleaning or even just relaxing. Hope everyone enjoys, let me know if you like it!

I'm interested in learning more about the use of audio in current trends in social media and how it affects consumer experience. As we encounter every day, every video content on social media nowadays includes sound effects or songs that change user behaviour. I'm looking forward to learning more about it!

    Hi Jenny! I also name my spotify playlists random titles depending on what I'm doing in the current moment. It is super interesting how the algorithm can use that information to recommend songs to add, and often I like the songs they suggest. I also think it would be interesting to learn about how sonic sounds affect consumer behaviour. I've heard that in places like grocery stores, the music is specifically chosen to influence customers to feel relaxed to purchase more, I wonder how this changes in digital media.

In addition to the presentations and class discussions from this week I wanted to talk more about technological determinism versus social constructionism because it was a topic that I found both interesting and a bit confusing. I would like to use this discussion to compare and contrast the two in order to better understand the two terms and what they mean in relation to podcast studies. I found the platformization of podcasting to be a very interesting topic discussed. Prior to the platformization of podcasting, as discussed by John Sullivan in “The Platforms of Podcasting: Past and Present”, a method known as RSS was used to consume podcasts. This was not easy for everyone to use, as only people with higher knowledge of the use of technology would be able to use this method. Steve Jobs would be the first to make a platform for podcasting with the release of iTUnes 4.9. THis allowed users the ability to consume and discover podcasts from the same place, ultimately making it much easier for the general population to enjoy this medium.
